Onto Puri and the sea

0600 hours on a winter morning takes effort to get out of bed, and its 10 degrees centigrade, but then we did manage to finally get into the car & by 0650 hrs all set for a trip to Puri , decided it is better to travel by car as the mercury had dipped quiet a lot sorry machete ( my bike ) we could not be together on xmas day.

Jamshedpur is at height of 480 feet and 11 degrees centigrade as we left home n We had planned to go via baharagora, balasore bhadrak like the last trip to chilka lake ( near puri ) I set the GPS to Baharagora n then cuttack, n what do you know the GPS decided an alternate route, which saw us travel as extra 70 km we came via karanjia, which is at1034 feet, the road was quiet bad 10 km at a stretch and then again in bursts for another 5 km.

the route was : Jamshedpur- baharagora- karanjia – panikoili – puri using national highway : NH 49 to NH 220 to NH 20 NH 16 – NH 316

We were in Puri by 1630 hours, a total of 9hrs and 30 minutes , not to forget the amazing Dum biryani we had approx 120 km before puri near Jajpur

including a 20 min lunch break and 2 fuel breaks .

Reaching puri we did visit the sea and soak our feet this day.

Day 2 at Dalma

Next morning I woke up it was misty and looked like I was in a hill station outside my window was a visitor who was helping himself to last evenings leftover

We woke up washed and went on to have tea and biscuits at the balcony, sure enough the visitor did the honor of stealing our biscuit packet and iI did what I thought I would to a human, went after him and asked for a portion of the packet to be returned and did return one small packed of biscuit to us majority was its own breakfast.


the beauty of nature is just so magnificant and hilly feel is the best we were at 3000 feet elevation approx here

All 3 being from XLRI , alumni and current faculty I was privy to quiet a bit of information and how people think, always a pleasure to learn,,,


We had an early breakfast and headed back to town of Jamshedpur to reach the city by 0900 hours

Dalma Top day 1

A trip to Dalma top, the icing on cake we had scored the forest bunglow with a view for night stay.

We were on our way early morning was 0750 hours we met up and started out, Ronny Dcosta, Alfred Austa and me had gathered n were on our way, weather was cloudy but we are hopeful weather Gods will be kind. We had to pick up another member Fr Peter from XlRI and we were on our way by 0825hrs, Dalma top is approx. 45 km n we moved onto the forest guesthouse reaching and checking in our reservation making sure & once sure all is well, we were on to the top, 9the guest house is 5km before Dalma top

and then there is another temple which is in the cave and again dedicated to Lord Shiva, the entry to the cave is a bunch of steps and only one person can go at a time, and them viola there is the wonderful idols, this place has a good sprinkling of monkeys, which is to be expected as it is a forest.

We were back to the guest house after walking the last km to Dalma top for an hour or so, the walk had generated a good appetite, We were hungry, lunch was chicken and rice, all food was compliments of Ronny D’costa, for organizing the raw material and cooking was done by the fine folks at the guesthouse.

We opted for an early lunch and then we relaxed for the afternoon, and greeted with a lovely view of Jamshedpur as evening set in,

we had many a stimulating conversation and discussions as is to expected and we called it a night at 2145 hours. ( to be cont ...)

Bhoot chaturdashi

Day 585 since lockdown, 1 image a day continues, 3rd Nov 2021 While some consider it a day to seek blessings from their forefathers, others associate it with getting rid of evil. Bhoot Chaturdashi in West Bengal is marked by lighting of 14 diyas to welcome 14 forefathers of a family who visit their relatives to guide them and remove obstacles from their life

The clean up

Come deepawali ( festival of light) time and many roll up there sleeves and start cleaning there house , including a lick of paint to there house, a great time to be working by oneself almost like a mass movement
