Tadoba – day 2

The 2nd safari was on a Tuesday

Word of caution it is to be remembered unlike many places on -TUE Tadoba jungle is closed to tourists and Safari only happens in Buffer Zone, Not Core zone

WE started the Tour of Buffer Zone

Camera charges: Rs 250 per camera

All mobile Phones are to be switched off and deposited in the lock box with the guide in the Jeep

We entered the jungle at 0530 hours

And were greeted with sights of Gaur being lazy and chewing Grass and looking at us

Followed by a few spotted deer’s practicing there fight for

supremacy

A little later there was a streak of Blue, it was Indian roller in flight, a sight oh so lovely,,,

And as we drove around we also chanced on a Fishing eagle watching us from a distance , yes we managed to shoot a few in flight shots before it settled on a stump.

The buffer Zone was being more productive then we had anticipated and this was looking good especially after the wonderful Tiger sighting the previous day.

Before the morning safari ended we had also spotted and photographed a few "Paradise fly catchers" with  fly and flying across the water body, it is just lyrical to say the least.

And Pied Kingfisher hovering and watching below before it swoops for the kill

The last hour threw up a gamma being chased by honey buzzard, wow what a day

And as we left we were treated to a sighting of tigress Choti Madhu, who is currently in the Buffer Zone, WOW, what a day once more I thought to myself.

Tiger Tiger everywhere, Tadoba day -1

We are in the Jungle of Tadoba, located 87 km from Nagpur we are on our 1st safari, safari Timings are 1530 hrs. in the evening

We had checked in our homestay earlier and were out in 42 degrees C in the heat, n we did not have to wait long before we had the 1st sighting of a tiger,   the Tiger was lying on its side and there was general excitement,  in the air

Sighting a Tiger is always exciting I feel, its a special moment,  we were happy to see the tiger from a distant and seemingly sleepy.

These sightings which I refer to as Technical sightings as they have no value to a Wildlife Photographer as me, but yes we had seen a tiger, the Tiger was doing that it does best, Just lie and sleep on a hot sunny day, as do we.

Then suddenly on the other side of the tree another Tiger appeared magically

This tiger is named Bhanja and is the nephew of tiger one. Who is aptly names “ Mama", they both share the territory as they are related we were informed by the guide.

Wow it sure gave us a good look at itself as it sat in the shade and yawned occasionally, we had seen 2 tigers within the 1st hour,

We were happy t

As we drove on we were rewarded with a sighting of a fishing owl.

We were plain lucky and feeling happy, the extreme heat was bearable as we were so excited with the amazing sightings we had, we drove on and as dusk was coming we chanced on 2 more tigers, Sonam and her son were on a water body cooling them self,

It was begging to get dark and we would have to exit the park soon, and then Sonam the tigress stood up and came towards us, it looked directly into the camera and then was marking tis territory as it looked into the camera and then walked away,

What an amazing day this was, so many  sighting, we had had on the 1st safari and to think we had Nine more safaris to go.

Metro news Of Kolkata

Height of Encroachment I tell you on a whole different league while in Kolkata, No wonder it is called City of Joy.

Sidewalk is now the houses personal property ,,,

Kolkata metro started many years ago, In fact it is the first Metro of India, but then due to visionaries of the ruling class in Bengal we know where Bengal stands now.

Happy to inform  you I had an opportunity to travel on 2 new metro lines

1. Howrah station to Esplanade  where one can switch over to the main line of

Dakhineshwar to Tollygung Metro

2. And then there is Sealdah to Sector V metro, making it easy to travel from Kolkata south to Salt Lake, and Sector V.

Great going Kolkata
