A "  Treepie" is gathering food for its family

A " brown shrike" is busy  gathering building material , 

all are at work 

as reported by the owl who has been watching it all.

May Day

The lady is well poised on May 1st the world labor day, she is off to work looks like, to help the nation grow, a true dedicated worker, admire how she looks so well put together with her umbrella and on a bike so well balanced,

 

As the day progressed I realized, New Town in Kolkata has very bad connectivity and it is interesting to see ladies on the move going to work on there own ride…

Birds and Squirrel at play

 

Have been following a tree as it fruited and sure enough it attracted a bunch of different birds, its like Living in Eden I say

 

 

 

Its all about how patient can one be,

 

 

 

 

And of course there are some frisky friends at play too

 

 

 

 

Paradise Fly catcher

Have been of the lookout for this bird since march 2023, The fancy tail and blue ringed eyes  it sure grabs attention, and today I got to see it flitting through the trees near my house,  The Paradise flycatcher comes to breed and is migratory in nature, socially Monogamous both male and female build nest

Anatomy of a Documentry ... The Grit

 

 

March last week to 1^st week of April was busy, we shot a documentary on Shankha,

 The white bangle that married Bengali women wear as a symbol of marriage, (you need to watch the film)

I was questioned by someone about how much it cost to make the film, and on hearing the number the person was interested in producing a documentary and made an open ended offer.( not aware what it takes to make an documentary film, the research and the process)

 

This particular film has been in the mind of the director since 2018 and has come to fruition now in 2024. (We are in edit)   we have been shooting parts of the film over the last so many years as reference and some footage might make it into the film too,

 

We ended up shooting the film in 2 country and have a fashion angel now too.

 

 

 

 

 along with tradition’s.

The Grit to hear no from others and still be at it

The Grit to hang in there and work silently

The Grit to see it to completion.

 

The director Sarbari Chowdhury of Broto alpona fame https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf8LW4YzSy0  had Grit to make it happen.

 

Filmmaking is such a game, needs Grit to make a film, the most necessary ingredient for sucess

For the uniniated these conch shells, which we blow on auspicious occasions, are cut to make the shankha.

Male is unmistakable, with his orange breast, belly, and tail and ultramarine-blue head and back. Handsome eh!
The species breeds in brushy open subalpine areas and winters in foothills in scrubby areas, field edges, and gardens.
