Smooth coated Otter RED LISTED

 

Smooth coated Otter with food, The smooth-coated otter (Lutrogale perspicillata) is a freshwater otter species from regions of South and Southwest Asia with the majority of its numbers found in Southeast Asia It has been ranked as "vulnerable" on the IUCN Red Listsince 1996, as it is threatened by habitat loss pollution of wetlands and poaching for the illegal wildlife trade As the common name indicates, its fur is relatively smooth, and somewhat shorter in length than that of other otter species.

 

 

A visit to Kaziranga, Assam might give one a view of these animals

Rail madad in action

 

On a train to Guwahati, its a long trip, approx 19 hrs, as I settle into the journey I notice the 2 sides of the berth do not align to make a bed

 

 

I call up a service,  Rail Madad is an app of Indian rail 

and in 5 minutes we had action on my complain.

I have a gent who comes to help n after inspecting the problem he calls for help

 

Unlike the normal railway staff this guy was interested in solving the problem and did manage to solve it.

 

 

On questioning him, he opened up the fact that he is not a railway employee but the work is all out soursed. Hate to say BUT job security of having a rail job does make some (most) slack

 

Outsourcing is indeed the way to go.

 

Cotton Pygmy Goose

Cotton Pygmy Goose, what a pleasure to watch them in flight and be up to there shenanigans.

Male has a bright white head and neck with a dark crown and eyes. Female is plainer, with a strong dark eye-line that does not continue back to the nape. In flight, females have thin white edges on the trailing edge of the wings, while males have big white slashes on the wings. Usually seen swimming in freshwater wetland

Ruddy shell duck

 

The Ruddy shell duck the winter visitor traverses 1500 odd km , They have been recorded to fly upto 6800meters height

And in Buddhist country is treated as Holy as there color is like that of robes of Monks
