Mandarmani :
Images or visions of the beach framed by clouds was in my mind as we drove down from Kolkata on a unplanned trip to Mandarmani 1st week of June
But what we actually was was :
The drive was a pleasure Toll roughly of Rs 300 for the 195 km drive from Kolkata to Mandarmani beach
We had stopped 45 km from Kolkata ( First highway acess fuel pump almost on the highway and does not require a huge detour to service road) we also got to taste road side egg and bread, this particular kind of bread is more prevalent in west bengal
Our usual haunt of “ The Golden beach resort which could not accommodate us, well next door there was a hotel AGbeach resort,
we decided to give the new resort a chance thinking well of the place, well they offered us a room for Rs 3000 including food, which seemed like a good deal, and a hour after we settled in as we did the paper work, it turns out FOOD NOT INCLUDED, well we had been swindled, oh well someday one just takes a hit on these and gets on with life, we had already unpacked and were in a holiday mood ( presume these hotels count on these)
the food was good, ( there cook was a wiz) though The service could be better and one has to scream every now and then to get things done, NO I would not visit this hotel again, but you could and you have been warned how they do underhand dealing, so when they give u rates make sure what all is ACTUALLY included
Other
Hotels to stay in on beach:
The Golden beach resort
Parthking resort
Mainak resort
Sunrise hotel
Location wise these places have beach access and looks inviting
We spend two days here but was disappointed with the sky Gods not cooperating and gave us a bland sky,
We spend our days having coconut water and walking on the beach, before we headed back on a full moon night
A relaxing vacation, every trip I am keyed up with need to shoot and be there with m y camera at dawn ( often 0400 hours ) and then again at 1700 hours
Total distance :400 km approx.
Total expence : Rs 14000
No of days , 2 days at Mandarmani and 5 hrs drive each way.

From Mrs : Surekha venugopla : Rajat, I’m always having trouble writing a comment at the trip-site.
ReplyDeleteSo I’m giving the feedback here.
Truly, truly excellent narration of a lovely little expedition- with superbly designed, beautifully done photographs! (You are very gooo, Rajat !)
Your message is as deliciously tempting as lovely chocolates kept in front of a child !
Tell me, when and how can you and a couple of more friends help me have such a beach holiday !?
(And again your beach pictures are so beautiful !) The cycle and the cyclist pic is one of the nicest I’ve seen- with the arresting reflection of the cycle in the water. Wow !
I’m serious, Rajat...if not a motorcycle trip, can there be any other ?
Can there be such a luscious 2-day, 3-day beach-town holiday by any other mode of transport ?
