Day 4 - we are headed to PAhelgaon today

Next day we were off from GUlmarg, though we did  a morning walk one final time before we started off.

we were 4 hours(I was sure we would stop to shop enroute)  from our destination My sis loves to shop and kashmir is shoppers paradise.

The weather Gods seemed to be a little tough on us, but we will see, as we went along the scenery was interesting and the pine forests were a lovely sight.

The sight of roads blocked by cows sure made me feel at home here, I am guessing cows love roads everywhere.

It gives more character to the roads sometimes I say, open roads are a trifle boring, unless one is on a bike and riding a little fast as these roads tend to make us riders a little throttle happy...

The roads were amazing and I would say a airplane can easily land on some of the roads, as these roads are made of concrete and wide enough.

Along the way we did come across almost 2 km long stretch of sports store and on enquiry was informed this is where the cricket bats are made, the best willows are from this area.

We had to reach before 1500 hours so we had to pass by certain local eateries that sure had the local flavor by the look from outside

(yes we did stop here for lunch the next day on our way back from Pahelgaon to Srinagar)

We reached Pahelgaon within stipulated time inspite of  stopping for some shopping of dry fruits

As we we bough the dry fruits, we realised  the packaging had the Kirkland brand (the brand is from America, Costco stores) so here were 3 US folks with us buying stuff that’s already been packaged for USA-   I sure hope it is not the other way around)

there was also  A shawl workshop cum factory where we watched the artists at work doing what they do best   and loosened our pocket some too

Well the last few years has been tough on these artisans so would be great to see them rise and shine again.

We were in Pahelgaon before yatri based curfew set in cut off time is 1500 hours and we ate only just as we reached Pahelgaon.

Actually 10 km before Pahelgaon was a tiny market we stopped there and they got us fresh fish from the river that was flowing by the market as we waited, it was just Yummy all the way.

while driving the river had been flowing parall to the highway

Our hotel here was 10 km before the proper city and was another boutique hotel called: Eden Resorts,

I had been a lazy traveller and had blindly trusted our travel agent/ friend- Farha, who once more had placed us in a nice property , we were not disappointed

Interestingly the hotel claimed there AC units are just blowers and they use it to blow heat, they don’t have Air conditioning and still call themselves a 4 star property, Hmmm I wonder about that,

Anyway

The Lidder River flows right outside the property, which ment some more pictures of us, it had been a long journey but my mom was game to pose by the river, ever the trooper

And we spend some time sitting by the river and watching the world flow by today was going to be a slow day as we sat and watched the sun set onto the mountains.

bringing another day to a close.

Good night

  1. Very nice to read and well written.
We were staying in a hotel next to the river near the cricket ball and bat making place.
The concrete roads were all made by Mr Gadkari who is from TMC or Congress or may be extreme left.I am not sure.
